The Mill is open during the summer and Monday to Friday during the winter solely to schools and can offer a wide range of tours to suit your needs and those of your students. Most workshops can be adapted for special needs groups.

1. Guided tours of the museum, watercourse and mill yard
2. Guided walk of the workers' housing community and chapel
3. Bespoke tours catering for your topics e.g.
- Key stage 1 fabrics, geography, jobs
- Key stage 2 rivers and their impact on the town's development, citizenship, Victorians, occupations
- Key stage 3 Industrial revolution, textiles, renewable energy
4. Bespoke tours may be arranged for students studying architecture, teacher training, conservation, tourism or other subjects

Pupils may dress up as mill workers and work some of the machinery
Handling collection and artefacts
Small groups of about 10 pupils to a guide
Safe storage for bags and coats
Lunch may be eaten in the Mill or the River Gardens nearby
Activity sheets available on request for post visit study
