Strutt's North Mill, Belper is open to visitors all year

Derwent Valley Visitor Centre & Strutt's North Mill museum are the two attractions in the Mill. Why not come for a visit and explore the wealth of Industrial history that Belper has to offer?

Open to All
The Mill welcomes ALL visitors and will endeavour to help individuals and groups with mobility problems and groups whose first language is not English. Please note some parts of the mill cannot be accessed with a wheelchair.

Flexible
Booking can be made for group visits at any time, including evenings. Coach parties are welcomes (free coach parking is available) and we can offer a range of tours from 'whistlestop' visits to activity-rich tours.

Guided tours are available during normal opening times and for pre-booked parties at any time.

We have a wide range of workshops for schools. Information is available for students. Please see the Information for Schools pages for more details.

How to get here

By road
The North Mill can be found to the north of Belper at the junction of the A6 and A517 - see big map (opens in new tab/window) or our little one.

Our postcode is DE56 1YD if you want to use your own electronic map or GPS.

Free parking is available directly outside the mill, with a Pay and Display cark parking at the River Gardens car park 2 minutes walk from the centre. More spaces can be found in the town which can be more convenient if you intend to explore the town.

By public transport Belper has good bus and rail links including direct trains to Derby, Sheffield, Nottingham, Leicester and London, and buses from Derby, Nottingham, Leicester and Buxton. The mill is less than 10 minutes walk from the bus and train stations.
